WORKBOOK PART II
LESSON TWO HUNDRED FIFTY-SIX
L e s s o n 256
God is the only goal I have today.
What a marvelous idea this is! And not just for today but every day! God, Be-ing all Good, what more could We want?
1 The way to God is through forgiveness here. Ah, as Shakespeare would say: Right there’s the rub! There is no other way. Hear You loud and clear; I get the message. It’s quite plain: whatever You think Your Brother did, let it go! Give up nursing it! If sin had not been cherished by the mind, there would be no dream, nor would there be sin; what need would there have been to find a way to where you are? (Ignoring Heaven; preferring grudges! ) Who would still be uncertain? Who could be unsure of who he is? You have forgotten Love is what You are. For You dream endlessly of grievances, one sort or another, and the ‘world’ out-pictures but Your dreams. And who would yet remain asleep in heavy clouds of doubt about the holiness of him who God created sinless? Looks like most of Us, or We’d be awake! Here we can but dream. But we can dream something better: that we have forgiven him in whom all sin remains impossible, and it is this we choose to dream today. For We have long accused God of creating the world, when it is nothing but the work of the ego! God is our goal; forgiveness is the means by which our minds return to Him at last. First We forgive Our Brothers, then can We more easily forgive Ourselves, for Our supposed ‘guilt’ is but the awful ‘sin’ We hide by attack. It’s not hard to do; it’s really simple.
We could hold hands and do it together!
2 And so, our Father, would we come to You in Your appointed way. We can just let each of those grudges grow! There are so many, yet they lack substance! We have no goal except to hear Your Voice – feel Your gentle Love – and find the way Your sacred Word has pointed out to us. We can just let go of all the grudges! How heavy the weight! There are so many. …
How light I feel now that they are all gone!
