The Guidance is in normal type In His Guidance, He has asked Me to capitalize the pronouns You and We as an acknowledgement of the Divinity of All of Us, an acknowledgement of Equality, an expression of His Love and respect for You. When You see the word ‘YOU’ capitalized in the Guidance, know that He is not just speaking to YOU, He is honoring YOU.

Introduction

^{ORIGINAL HAND SCRIPT ~ September 16, 1970}

^IP2:1 Words will mean little now.  

As You are willing to allow the Peace of God to be Your one Source of feeling. It alone is Truth. Anything You will not to feel will still be spoken to You. We use them but as guides on which we do not now depend. For now we seek direct experience of truth alone. Which God makes quite available to You. The lessons which remain are merely introductions to the times in which we leave the world of pain and go to enter peace. This is their true aim. Now we begin to reach the goal this course has set – as You’re receptive – and find the end toward which our practicing was geared. The end which is but a new beginning.

² Now we attempt to let the exercise be merely a beginning. An open door inviting Our curious exploration. Let Us walk through it with great gratitude for sweet adventure. For we wait in quiet expectation for our God and Father. He has promised He will take the final step Himself. For He leaves Us not alone, but abides by Our side always. And we are sure His promises are kept. For He is faithful. We have come far along the road, and now we wait for Him. Glad now to make no move alone, without asking His Guidance. We will continue spending time with Him each morning and at night, as long as makes us happy. Here lies Our true Joy; It is but awaiting glad acceptance. We will not consider time a matter of duration now. We use as much as we will need for the result that we desire. God is Our focus, Our one daily need. Nor will we forget our hourly remembrance in between, calling to God when we have need of Him as we are tempted to forget our goal. Not just daily, but each holy instant.

³ We will continue with a central thought for all the days to come. And we will use that thought to introduce our times of rest and calm our minds at need. Yet we will not content ourselves with simple practicing in the remaining holy instants which conclude the year that we have given God. Which will lead eventually – or sooner! – to Eternity – We say some simple words of welcome and expect our Father to reveal Himself as He has promised. He has already, yet We have not noticed Him in the gentle breeze, the warm sunshine, the silent snow, the cleansing rain, the majestic oceans, the useful honeybees, the shady trees. The list is endless. We have called on Him, and He has promised that His Son will not remain unanswered when he calls His Name. Yet is God ever here and ever near, waiting for the time when We will decide to pay attention. It could be today.

⁴ Now do we come to Him with but His Word upon our minds and hearts. Silencing the ego’s empty chatter, We can both hear and feel His Love for All. And wait for Him to take the step to us that He has told us, through His Voice, He would not fail to take when we invited Him. Patiently He waits for Our Wakening. He has not left His Son in all his madness nor betrayed His trust in him.  He sees His Son’s perfection, thus insanity has no reality for Him. Has not His faithfulness earned Him the invitation that He seeks to make us happy? How stubborn are We, how determined never to be happy. Let Us yield to Him, not resist His Love. We will offer it, and it will be accepted. This is a given: He waits for Us with glad expectation. So our times with Him will now be spent. We say the words of invitation that His Voice suggests, – opening Our hearts – and then we wait for Him to come to us. Come He surely will.

⁵ Now is the time of prophecy fulfilled. The accepted time. Now are all ancient promises upheld and fully kept. For You are willing to receive them now. No step remains for time to separate from its accomplishment. /g–Glad willingness does bring it to You now. For now we cannot fail. Sit silently and wait upon your Father. He has willed to come to you when you have recognized it is your will He do so. It is but unwillingness that has blocked Your reception of His coming to You. And you could have never come this far unless you saw, however dimly, that it is your will. The more You long for God, the sooner, faster, comes He to You, for the choice is Yours. He is ever-present; it’s You who must allow His coming.

⁶ I am so close to you we cannot fail. For You are not in this worthiest endeavour by Yourself.  Father, we give these holy times to You in gratitude to Him Who taught us how to leave the world of sorrow in exchange for its replacement given us by You. Your faithful Son with the Holy Spirit. We look not backward now. For You would have this Holy Spirit be Us as well as He. We look ahead and fix our eyes upon the journey’s end. We worry not about how many steps it takes Us to achieve it. Each one is so very joyful! Accept these little gifts of thanks from us, as through Christ’s vision we behold a world beyond the one we made and take that world to be the full replacement of our own, and We gladly realize it is but a step to Heaven; one We would take now.

⁷ And now we wait in silence, unafraid and certain of Your coming. We feel Your Presence; enveloped by It, all We know is Love. We have sought to find our way by following the Guide You sent to us. His Love mirrors Yours. We did not know the way, but You did not forget us. And we know that You will not forget us now. We ask but that Your ancient promises be kept which are Your Will to keep. Before We asked, You had already accomplished it for Us. We will with You in asking this, that We know it done. The Father and the Son, Whose holy Will created all that is, can fail in nothing. In this certainty, we undertake these last few steps to You and rest in confidence upon Your Love, Which will not fail the Son who calls to You. We remember We are that Son already. Our experience waits on Our acceptance of the Truth.

⁸ And so we start upon the final part of this one holy year which we have spent together in the search for truth and God, Who is its one Creator. We have found the way He chose for us and made the choice to follow it as He would have us go. Thanks be to His Gifts! His hand has held us up. His Thoughts have lit the darkness of our minds. His Love has called to us unceasingly since We hid from Eternity and unreal time began. Now would We end ‘time’ for it was an horrible idea.

⁹ We had a wish that God would fail to have the Son whom He created for Himself. We wanted God to change Himself and be what we would make of Him. We would change Ourselves; therefore, God as well. How insane We were! And we believed that our insane desires were the truth. How ridiculous! Our willfulness had but put Us in an insane stupor! Now we are glad that this is all undone, and we no longer think illusions true. We’re learning better. The memory of God is shimmering across the wide horizons of our minds, which – as Reality – are Infinite. A moment more, and it will rise again. A moment more, and we who are God’s Sons are safely home, where He would have us be. It is but the happiest thing I do: listening to You!

¹⁰ Now is the need for practice almost done. For in this final section we will come to understand that we need only call to God and all temptations disappear. Yes! Really it’s that simple. Only ego complicates in order to confuse. Instead of words, we need but feel His Love. Love ever-present; always available for everyOne. God is trustworthy. Instead of prayer, we need but call His Name. It is that simple. Sing hallelujah! Complicated things may seem deep and esoteric, quite impressive; Reality, however, is extremely simple, and very peaceful. For all Its peace and simplicity, You never will be bored!  Let Us continue. Instead of judging, we need but be still and let all things be healed. Only ego wants to do, while Holy Spirit simply shifts to the Reality of all things Good.We will accept the way God’s plan will end, (plan for salvation) as we received the way it started. Now it is complete. This year has brought us to eternity. His plans for Eternity increase in Goodness as each Holy Instant is experienced by You. This is Truth for All of God’s Ideas, and not just for You! His Good, then, must be Infinite indeed!

¹¹ One further use for words we still retain. From time to time, instructions on a theme of special relevance will intersperse our daily lessons and the periods of wordless, deep experience which should come afterwards. Do You realize now that God has only Good for You, not just Now, but forever!  These special thoughts should be reviewed each day, each one of them to be continued till the next is given you. They should be slowly read and thought about a little while, preceding one of the holy and blessed instants in the day. We give the first of these instructions now. Remember, this Course is quite specific to Your happiness, as well as Your peace. You are dearly loved!
